The opportunity
Our client is looking for a commercially astute Business Development Manager who thrives on solving complex challenges. In this role, you'll identify, engage, and win new business with asset owners and managers in sectors such as commercial property, industrial infrastructure, logistics, and government.
You'll promote energy efficiency and optimisation strategies ranging from analytics and automation to demand response and embedded networks, working closely with technical and delivery teams to turn opportunity into execution.
You'll be responsible for:
- Developing and executing a business development strategy targeting large-scale energy users (1 MW +)
- Building and maintaining senior-level client relationships across a wide range of asset classes
- Identifying client energy challenges and tailoring commercially viable solutions
- Leading proposal development and pitch presentations with a consultative approach
- Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless client experience
- Maintaining a pulse on industry trends and competitor activity
About you
You’re a natural connector with a track record of consultative sales success in the energy, sustainability or technology sectors. You understand the intricacies of energy management in complex built environments and can engage stakeholders at all levels, from sustainability managers to C-suite executives.
Your background might be in demand management, building optimisation, embedded networks, or smart energy systems at enterprise level, but what sets you apart is your strategic mindset, client focus, and ability to convert insight into action.
In addition, you will have:
- 5+ years’ experience in a BDM or solutions sales role within energy, sustainability, or smart infrastructure
- Strong understanding of energy markets, decarbonisation strategies, VPP solutions and value propositions for large asset owners
- Ability to navigate complex sales cycles and influence senior decision-makers
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- An analytical approach to identifying client needs and framing commercially compelling offers
- A genuine passion for accelerating the energy transition and reducing carbon impact
