Why join this organisation?
Our client is a pioneering force in smart energy solutions, helping some of Australia’s largest commercial and industrial asset owners reduce consumption, lower emissions, and drive meaningful change. With a growing reputation in energy optimisation, they design and deploy cutting-edge technology that transforms energy systems into intelligent, responsive, and efficient assets.

This is your chance to join an innovation-focused team shaping the energy transition from the inside out. You’ll be part of a collaborative, agile culture that empowers individuals to make a measurable impact on sustainability and performance across major portfolios, while working with tech that delivers.

Some of the benefits on offer include:
  • Equity participation in a fast-growing, IP-rich business
  • A collaborative and forward-thinking team that genuinely values your expertise
  • Autonomy and trust to shape how you build your portfolio
  • Hybrid working from Sydney office or fully remote, and flexibility to support work-life integration
  • Proven market traction and technical credibility in real-world projects
  • The opportunity to directly influence carbon reduction outcomes for some of Australia’s biggest energy users

The opportunity
We're looking for a commercially astute Business Development Manager who thrives on solving complex challenges. In this role, you’ll drive revenue growth by identifying, engaging, and converting opportunities across three key channels:
  1. Direct: Large C&I customers (often multi-site portfolios)
  2. Channel: Solar/battery integrators and building automation firms
  3. White-label/SaaS: Energy market players using or reselling platform modules

You’ll promote energy efficiency and optimisation strategies ranging from analytics and automation to demand response and embedded networks, working closely with technical and delivery teams to turn opportunity into execution.

You'll be responsible for:
  • Developing and executing a BD strategy targeting high-energy-use sectors, typically in the 1MW - 50MW range
  • Managing the full sales cycle using CRM tools to track pipeline and conversion
  • Building and maintaining senior-level client relationships across commercial property, industrial, mining, logistics, and government
  • Identifying client energy challenges and tailoring commercially viable solutions
  • Leading proposal development and pitch presentations with a consultative approach
  • Collaborating with engineering, product, and delivery teams to ensure seamless client experience
  • Providing insight into product development and market positioning
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and policy developments

About you
You’re a natural connector with a track record of consultative sales success in the energy, sustainability or technology sectors. You understand the intricacies of energy management in complex built environments and can engage stakeholders at all levels, from sustainability managers to C-suite executives.

Your background might be in demand management, smart energy platforms, embedded networks, or building optimisation, but what sets you apart is your strategic mindset, commercial creativity, and ability to convert insight into action.

In addition, you will have:
  • Demonstrated success in an enterprise level BDM or solutions sales role within energy, sustainability, or smart infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, decarbonisation strategies, and commercial models for large energy users
  • Ability to navigate complex sales cycles and influence senior decision-makers
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and proposal development skills
  • Familiarity with CRM-led sales processes
  • A genuine passion for accelerating the energy transition
